"Network": flying together
From day one Voxwing was a game against a bot. The “Network” milestone makes it a game with people: make a room, send the link to a friend, and you share one sky.
What works already
- A duel by link. One on one, rounds up to three wins — the same rules as the fight with a bot.
- An 8v8 fight. Two teams of eight planes and 30 tickets each: a kill or a crash takes a ticket. Bots take the empty seats. Join mid-match and you take over a bot plane of your team right in the air, no waiting.
- Your side is not in the way. Bullets pass through allies; after a respawn you are protected for five seconds.
Why a hit counts fairly
The server runs the same flight as the browser, 120 times a second, and decides by itself whether a bullet hit. The browser flies your own plane at once without waiting for the server, so the controls answer with no delay. Other planes are shown 0.1 s late, but smoothly.
So that the lead marker does not lie under ping, the server checks a bullet against where the target was as the shooter saw it, up to 0.3 s back. A round trip of up to ~150 ms is covered in full.
What is next
A closed test with friends by link. To find lags and errors, online fights send anonymous technical telemetry — what exactly is in the privacy page. Then “Track of the day”: a ghost of your best run and records of the day’s and the week’s track.
